The weekly update

Wyatt had a good week this last week with few exceptions.  Daycare continues to tell us that he is one of the easiest kids for them to take care of (discount worthy??), and he is always a good baby, even on his bad days, that are very few and far between.

Not a lot of noteworthy items from this week.  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all went off without a hitch.  As you read above, Wyatt does have a bad day now and then, and Thursday was the first time our friends at Think-and-Play saw this.  He was acting tired and fussy all day for them, and never really slept.  When Jean got home from picking him up, he was sleeping, and slept for about an hour, as he usually does around that time for us, and woke up to a happy, and smiley baby for us for the rest of the night.

Friday was PJ day at daycare, so Wyatt got to wear his PJs all day.  I think he enjoyed this, because as I picked him up, he was laying on the floor, playing with his feet, that are covered in monkeys, and laughing and smiling.  He saw me, gave a big giggle, and I asked him if his good mood was because he got to wear is Jammies all day.  Another big giggle for dad, and the two working in the daycare room both laughed and smiled because it was so big!!

Shortly after we got home Friday, company arrived.  Eric and Christy Chapman came up for a quick visit for the night.  Wyatt enjoyed seeing them again, and really took a liking to Eric (but then again, most do!!).

Saturday, Eric and Christy left to return home, and Wyatt had another attempt at cereal.  He did clean out the bowl, but wanted a bottle as soon as he did finish.

and immediately following

There has been a lot of talk both ways on who Wyatt looks like.  My opinion is, he has Jeans nose, mouth, and dimples.  The rest seems to be very much dad.  Even our attire seems to match on some days.

Nuff said......

Today, as Jean and I were having a bite for breakfast, we had Wyatt in his "Activity Saucer" by the patio door.  At this moment I realized that at times, kids can be so different from each other.  When winter first started we read of Wyatts cousin Ruby crying every time she saw snow fall.  Today, as the large flakes fell here in Cloquet, Wyatt was mesmerized.

Quick note I forgot to add....

One thing I forgot to add in my last post.....

We are somewhere around 3 weeks without a Nuk.  Wyatt has no intention to use it, pushes it away, and has pretty much told us to put them away.  You guys are all correct, THEY GROW UP FAST!!!!!

My how the time does fly........

When Wyatt was first born, Jean and I were both aware of the life changes we would be experiencing quite soon.  We also knew that these were going to be some the proudest, happiest years of our life ahead of us, and we both embraced that thought fully.

Here we are, four months later, and I am just making the time to get an update on our blog.  Its not that I have had no time, but the time I have had, have been spent looking at Wyatt to catch the changes that seem to be happening so quickly.

As any new parent is, I was quite proud of our new little addition.  He was such a big boy from the start, and almost immediately able to hold his head up on his own.  The amazement of what someone of his age is capable of, compared to what I was expecting to see, totally caught me off guard.  Call it ignorance, call it a lack of experience, call it whatever you wish, I am calling it proud.

It seems like four months is such a long time, but in reality, what is four months really in the life of your child?  Right now, its his entire lifetime, but in a short time, it will be a blip on the radar.

Now, on to an update.

As I have mentioned, he started to amaze us nearly instantly. His big eyes were noticed early on in life, and have turned into the eyes of his father.  The bright blue eyes will make you forgive him for whatever it was you were just upset about.

Now, I will be the first to admit, when we went out for dinner on Sept 8, 2009 for our anniversary, I told Jean that I was not sure if I was really ready to be a dad yet.  It was right around Sept 14, 2009 when we made our first trip out to Wal-Mart in town here for those few things we never thought of, that I was pushing the cart, with Wyatt in his carrier, looking up at me, when I looked at Jean and said, "Jean, I am ready now".  Leave it to me to always be a few days late, but hey, at least I was ready!!

Jean spent 8 weeks at home with Wyatt, after which she was ready to head back for adult interaction.  The first week of being at home, Jeans mom Mary spent the week with us, which was a lifesaver!!  The first weekend, we headed back to the St Cloud area to introduce the newest Kaproth around, and brought Grandma Mary back home.  On the trip north, Grandma Jan joined us for 3 days.  Again, thank you for the help both of you!!

As the weeks click by, many things happened that amazed us with Wyatt.  Not all things were because of Wyatt however.  As I have posted (one of the few since he was born), on Oct. 23, Ruby Grace Engquist was born to my sister and brother in law.  The family continues to grow on my side, and my parents (grandma and grandpa Kaproth) could not be more proud!!

In the end of October, Halloween to be exact, The Kaproths ventured down to Andover to spend the day with the Engquists.  Tyler offered to take me to the Gophers football game, which I thoroughly enjoyed, as Jean, Jill, Wyatt and Ruby spent the night at the Engquists house.

Wyatt spent the night (OK, only an hour or so) as a monkey.  Ruby spent the night as a gift basket of sorts.

Thanksgiving gave us the opportunity to introduce Wyatt to the extended family from North Carolina.  Wyatt handled the chaos of the Kaproth/Wojo combo like a pro.  Frank thanksgiving gave the grandkids on that side some time to cause some trouble together.

Come christmas, Wyatt again got to see alot of family, and the photo ops were never-ending.

All dressed up, and unable to move themselves!!

Wyatt continues to bring us joy.

Today, January 16th, 2010, I promise to make a better effort to keep this blog updated.

With that, todays update would read that Wyatt got to try cereal for the first time today.  He seemed to do well with it, and lasted through the first 100 or so photos before he wanted to end the charade and have his bottle.

We decided to give this a shot, as we had already experienced a first just a few short minutes earlier.  As he had just woke up for a nap on the living room floor, he was starring at us and smiling.  Jean and I were both watching him, and he gave a push, and rolled over for the first time (at least thats what we are going to believe).

Again, I promise to keep you more up to date on our new little man, and look forward to sharing all the more with you as it happens!!
