Wyatt and his playtime

Wyatt loves his play time, almost as much as his story time at night.  As Wyatt was getting ready for bed the other night, and cleaning up, it must have been easier to wear the toys than carry them to put them away.
Oh yeah, sometimes Wyatt gets daddy involved too
And on a different note,  this last weekend we were able to introduce Wyatt to his new cousin Lincoln.
Just a few things that are noteworthy:
-Wyatt vocabulary is getting crazy!!  Some words are, like with all kids, hard to understand, but he knows exactly what he is saying.
-One of Wyatts recurring patterns is to look at pictures, and list everyone in them.  He is right shockingly often.

18 months.....already!

Yesterday we had Wyatts 18 month appointment to the doctor.  He got the second Hepatitis A shot, and was not overly thrilled with that experience, but otherwise did well.

Weight was 29# 4oz, 85%.
Height was 33", 60%.
Head size was 19", 65%.

Today, on the way home from daycare, I turned and asked Wyatt, "What are we going to do tonight Wyatt?"
Quickly, he responded, "Eat.  Pitha!!!"
Jean stopped and got pizza on her way home.

Later tonight, Wyatt is doing his nightly ritual of finding a new place for every toy we have in the living room, when he grabs two of his stuffed monkeys, comes over to the couch, puts them on the couch, and proclaims, "One, Two!  Two monkeys!"

This picture was taken Thursday morning.  As Wyatt was playing, he grabbed his monkey, his blanket, and his two hats.  One hat for the monkey, one for him.

Weekend with the family

This past weekend, we headed down to the St. Cloud area to spend some time with the family.  We had not been back there since early January, and it was really nice to see everyone.

We left late Friday, after we had fed Wyatt some "Pitha" (Pizza for those of you not familiar with Wyatt lingo quite yet), and giving him a bath.  We had decided to do it this way, so Wyatt would be close to his bedtime when he hit the car, and would maybe sleep for the ride.  He was asleep before we got out of town.  Friday night we arrived at Papa and Nana Kaproths, Wyatt spent some time showing them all the things he had learned, and went to be about an hour after arriving.

Saturday morning, Jean and Nana Jan were off to Tracys baby shower.  Wyatt got to hang out with Papa Joe and daddy for awhile, including a trip to the local watering hole (Goodfellas Bar and Grill) for some lunch.  After lunch, Wyatt and I went and visited Great Grandma Dolores.  He always loves having an audience!!

Saturday afternoon, Papa Joe rode over to Cold Spring with Wyatt and I for some dinner at the Franks.  Wyatt got to see most of the uncle and aunts, and all of his cousins on the Frank side.  He ran and played with Keagan all night.  On the way back to Foley, he crashed hard.

Sunday morning, we were invited to have breakfast with the Chapmans.  It was really good to see them again.  We sat and talked, as Wyatt tried to show Evan how it was all done.  After a bit of time, Evan reminded Wyatt how nice it is to sit back, and watch the world pass you by......
As you can see, Evan is quite the ham, especially when the camera comes out!

After breakfast, it was back to Foley to load up the car, have some lunch, and watch a bit of NASCAR before heading back north.  Wyatt slept in the car, and was good for the time he was awake.  It is so nice knowing your child can handle the lifestyle you live!

Today at daycare, they celebrated Mardi-Gras.  Wyatt got to make a mask, and pick out the colors.  Surprisingly to both Jean and I, when he was asked what colors, he said "Yellow" and "Red".  We were surprised by this, because no matter what color we ask Wyatt to name, his first answer is always "Purple".

End of February

We are trying to get back into the swing of things with more regular blog updates.  Please bear with us.

On Valentines day, we sent Wyatt to daycare in a shirt that Jean and I both love.  I saw this in a store when Wyatt was about 2 months old, and HAD to buy it.  I guess the time to wear it came at exactly the right time of year....

Thats right folks, we are warning you ahead of time "Lock up your Daughters"

For Christmas, grandma and grandpa Kaproth made Wyatt a "Wyatt sized" table and chairs.  This has gotten to be a fun place for Wyatt to do his "Dot Dot Dots".  The old blueprints I get at work also make the cleanup much easier as well.
DOT-DOT-DOT!!!

A photo we just had to add:

This weekend, Wyatt also took a bit of a tumble.  As near as we can tell, his tooth went through his lower lip.  He is in great spirits, and does not seem to be slowed down by the recent "Owie".  Not even his eating.
Its hard to see, but there is a pretty good wound inside his mouth, and even a small wound on the outside of his lip.

A large update to make up for lost time

I know it has been a long time, and there is a lot to catch up on, and I will do my best not to miss anything.

It has been a crazy ride with Wyatt.  Over the summer, Wyatt learned to walk (at 10 months), learned he LOVED the water, and all around entertained us.

Wyatt has learned that there are 2 speeds in life:  Sleeping, and running.  This tends to keep mom and dad on their feet, and constantly going as well.  When Wyatts bedtime comes around, and he is all cuddled in for the night, a collective sigh of relief comes, as we finally get our break in the day.

As summer led to fall, Wyatts first birthday was upon us.  He already had alot of monkeys........

but we decided to go with a monkey theme anyway.  He seemed to enjoy it.

Wyatt helping dad get ready for a BWCA trip.  I think I see a future canoeist in the family!!

Making a Jack-0-Lantern.  More honestly, looking for something to eat.

Our little "Stinker" all dressed up for Halloween.

The other day we pulled a baby gift out of the closet for the first time.  Jean and I would both like to Thank Meranda, Ryan, and Ryella for the gift, as well as give them a stern look for buying something that does NOTHING but make noise.  Its a musical activity center that is on legs so Wyatt can stand up to it and play with it.  The first thing we noticed when we put the legs on and set it up (even though we noticed the box says for 12+ months) is that its too short already!!  Wyatt loves beating and banging on this thing, and in the last week or two, has already worn out the batteries.  The big question now, should we replace them??

The last time we went grocery shopping we bought a tub of pre-made pudding.  The purpose of this was not for our consumption but for that of something for Wyatt to play with and maybe do some art with.  As much as he loved playing with it, I saw fear, worry, concern, and many other emotions cross Jeans face.  None were because of Wyatts well being, but because of the mess that he was creating.  I however, was not worried.  I was going out to the garage as soon as he was done!

For your viewing pleasure, a short video of the event.

Another video we have been meaning to share with you all, is Wyatt finding his shoe basket.  He loves pulling them out to play with them, and I have to say, the game we have come up with does make me smile as well.

Today, Wyatt wanted to help out with some household chores we were doing.  He found it to be his job to help dad with some work stuff, and go through the blueprints for an upcoming project.  As much as I appreciate his help, and attention to detail on this, I think I am still waiting for one page to "come to pass".  Just kidding!

Wyatt has also become very well read lately.  No matter how often we put them away, he always pulls his books back out and flips through them.  He has told me that he is working on a theory of a car that runs on water or something like that.  At least I think that what he said.  He gets into that technical jargon and it all seems like a different language to me!

We also had a quick lesson on fishing this evening.  From as near as I can tell, the reason I havent been catching fish has to do with my legs actually coming over the front of the seat, and I have the boat in the water.  Just a guess.

Mom and dad, the marathon runners......

Oh my how the time flies.  Part of me is totally amazed by the fact its been a month since a bona-fide update, and another part of me is saying, "Well, you have worn yourself out a bit lately chasing that kid around!".

Now, I will admit, I have never seen a young child or baby act like they were stiff or sore.  Kids just don't get that way, and sleeping is not exception. As an adult (or as close as I have ever been), if you sleep in a position your body is not used to, the next day you are miserable.  I am jealous of kids for that reason.  Every morning is a new adventure as to how Wyatt fell asleep, or moved into while he slept.
Over the last month, we have also ventured to the park.  The nice early spring we had for awhile gave us that chance, and we took advantage.  Even though it was all very new to Wyatt, and probably a bit overwhelming, we did at least let him try a few new things while we were there.

Dad, do I get fed in this chair too?

Just so you know, mom, the only reason I am sitting still for a picture is so you guys don't send me down that slide again!  That thing is creepy!!

The mobility that Wyatt has gained is astonishing.  He sits still for nothing, and they even have mentioned at daycare that "Wyatt does not let anything get in his way."  Even the things that he really should sit still for, and refuses to can get interesting.  I am not complaining, because Wyatt has been an awesome kid, and we have no complaints there, as well as I understand that every parent goes through this, but as a first time parent, I think anyone who has been there can agree, its interesting, and at times, funny.

I really don't remember this tub being this short last time I was in here.  Look, my feet touch the end now, and my head is all the way over here touching this side......

The warm weather also let us take Wyatt out into the yard to see what his reaction would be to that.  The good news, he sat still for nearly 2 minutes.  The bad, 2 minutes outside was almost too much.  Baby steps I guess.....

Yeah, its kinda soft like carpet, but tastes terrible!!!

We spent a day over helping a friend of ours with some household chores while her husband is overseas in Iraq.  Her 5 year old daughter, Madison, and Wyatt got along great, and played together all day.

Yeah, sorry Madison, you are NOT going to be able to lift me!

Wyatts crawling has turned to climbing.  He has now turned every chair and piece of furniture in our house into a ladder.  This increases the time that we laugh and smile at him and with him, but also scares the crap out of us that he is growing up so fast.

OK, daddy, I am up, and I smiled for you, now will you PLEASE help me down?!?!?!

The time also came for Wyatts first haircut.  As you can see in some of the pictures above, his hair was actually long enough to get into his eyes.

Before

After!!!!

This past weekend presented us with Mothers Day.  Wyatt woke up promptly at 5:30 as usual, and we let mommy sleep in.  That afternoon, we all met the rest of the Kaproth gang for supper at Banning Junction.

Yeah, I know I look pale, but really, its not me!  She is just that dark!!

I know what your all thinking, and I have no clue why our grandparents cant figure out this camera stuff!  Seriously, who are the babies here?!?!?

Yeah, my parents are right! I AM CUTE!!

Yesterday was also Wyatts 8 month birthday!  Here is the birthday photo we took for his timeline.
